Costa is a leading cruise line in Italy, France and Spain where it boasts a tradition spanning close to seven decades.
Costa considers itself the world's ambassador of Italy’s finest. Its ships represent the best of Italy by offering beautiful Italian art, unique interior decorations with superb Italian mosaics and precious Murano chandeliers, fine Italian wines, excellent Mediterranean food selections and unique shops that carry well-known Italian fashion brands.
Its ships are deployed in the Mediterranean Sea, Northern Europe, the Caribbean, Brazil, Argentina, the Arabian Gulf and the Indian Ocean. Costa is also a leading cruise line in China. Most of its cruises sailing in China are four or five days and cater to Chinese guests.
In 2019, Costa Smeralda, the brand’s new flagship became the first vessel to use liquefied natural gas (LNG), both in port and at sea. The ship was designed to immerse guests in experiencing Italy’s finest all in one place. New features include Solemio Spa; various entertainment areas, including the Colosseum, with its screens for high-tech content shows; themed bars, in collaboration with major Italian brands. Food experience areas such as LAB where you can put your skills to the test and be a “Chef for a day”. Smeralda has multiple Italian eateries including a family restaurant Tutti a Tavola, all in keeping with Costa’s Italian heritage.

The Center For Disease Control (CDC) performs unannounced inspections, which are conducted twice a year and required for any cruise ship with an international itinerary calling at a U.S. port. Vessels are evaluated proper food handling, preparation and storage procedures, and overall galley cleanliness. Ships’ potable water supplies used in spas and pools are evaluated, as well.

Costa Deliziosa
In keeping with Costa’s commitment to environmental compliance, the Costa Luminosa and the Costa Deliziosa are the first ships in Italy to be equipped for “cold ironing,” the system whereby vessels are plugged into shoreside electrical power, enabling generators to be shut down during stopovers in port. Other environmental highlights include 100% separation of waste onboard including the recycling of aluminum, glass and other waste streams, while water is produced from desalination plants. The Costa Deliziosa also features various additional special emission-reducing measures.
Costa Luminosa and Costa Deliziosa pioneered in the introduction of a new vessel design, which is a Hybrid; taking the best design elements of Spirit-class and Vista-class cruise ships.
Innovations included are the Samsara Spa, a two-level, wellness facility with gym, a thalassotherapy pool, treatment rooms, sauna, Turkish bath and UVA ray solarium; a retractable glass dome and poolside screen at the pool deck; a Grand Prix race car simulator, an 18-hole championship golf simulator; PlayStation World area, where PS3 consoles are offered; three-level theater and a 4D cinema.

Samsara Suites provide direct access to the spa. Rooms are equipped with a kettle to make tea, has a purifying shower filter, and an aromatic essence diffuser. Etoiles Cinema 4D
This one-of-its-kind experience is a perfect mix of audio, 3D video and special effects. The 20 seats in the cinema move, rocking and vibrating up and down, from side to side and back and forth, following the action on the screen. The multisensory effect is further enhanced by jets of water, wind and smells. Costa Deliziosa’s 4D Cinema offers a program of three different videos, each lasting approximately 12 minutes. Guests on Costa Deliziosa can book seats at the 4D cinema with staff or by using the interactive kiosk’s touch screen.
