Safety Features

• Disney Cruise Line® ships are designed and constructed with safety in mind:

• The ship is designed for the safety of all passengers, especially small children.

• Plexiglas is installed on all deck railings.

• A physician and nurse are on call 24 hours a day.

• Everyone onboard must participate in a compulsory safety drill before departure to comply with Coast Guard and international safety regulations.

• Security guidelines require all adult Guests to show a picture I.D. to embark and disembark the ship in all ports, including Castaway Cay

Living Characters

Also in Disney’s Oceaneer Club and Disney’s Oceaneer Lab youth areas, Disney characters come to life and interact with children in one-of-a-kind experiences. On a 103-inch screen, Crush, the animated sea turtle from the Disney•Pixar motion picture “Finding Nemo,” or the mischievous animated alien Stitch make scheduled appearances to chat, play and joke with kids in live, unrehearsed conversations.

Disney's Flounder's Nursery

Flounder's Reef Nursery invites parents to enjoy adventures on their own during the cruise while their children are safely looked after and cared for by trained counselors. Flounder's Reef Nursery is open throughout the day, be sure to check the Personal Navigator—the Disney Cruise Line daily newsletter detailing all there is to see and do—while onboard for daily operating hours.

Inspired by the enchanting under-the-sea theme from the hit Disney film,The Little Mermaid, Flounder's Reef Nursery immerses young Guests in a soothing environment where picturesque sea-blue walls adorned with seahorses, clams and bubbles mesh with an aqua floor of ocean waves and the calming sounds of music.

Flounder's Reef Nursery consists of 2 spacious rooms, one for active play and one offering a relaxed atmosphere.

Activities

Activities at Flounder's Reef Nursery are unscheduled and vary depending on the mood of your child. However, with programs like movie time, story time and arts and crafts, counselors are sure to keep your little ones smiling from ear to ear.

Prices for Flounder's Reef Nursery

Flounder's Reef Nursery is available at an additional charge. $6.00 per hour for first child and $5.00 per hour for second child in your family. Cancellations may be made without penalty up to 4 hours in advance of reservation.

Reservations

Founder's Reef Nursery is available at an additional charge and must be reserved in advance.

• 120 days in advance for Concierge and Platinum Castaway Club Guests
• 105 days in advance for Gold Castaway Club Guests • 90 days in advance for Silver Castaway Club Guests • 75 days in advance for all other Guests

You can also make a reservation during the open house on Embarkation Day on a first-come, first-served basis. Because space is extremely limited, be sure to book your child's nursery stay early. Cancellations may be made without penalty up to 4 hours in advance of reservation.

What to Bring to Flounder's Reef Nursery

Parents should bring baby food, formula, milk and bottles; Disney's trained counselors will be more than happy to feed your child. Additionally, parents should include diapers or pull-ups, diaper wipes, extra clothing and a baby blanket or pacifier, if applicable, when dropping off their child.

Flounder's Reef Nursery offers Family Time at select times during your cruise. During this time, parents and children are welcome to participate in programs at Disney's Oceaneer Club together. Please check the Personal Navigator—the Disney Cruise Line daily newsletter detailing all there is to see and do—for specific dates and times of Family Time while onboard.

The Oceaneer Club

Neverland-themed play space for 3-7 year olds and the  Oceaneer Lab, a whacky and interactive laboratory exclusively for 8-12 year olds.

Ocean Quest

Nautical theme space just for youth activities. Computer and video games, arts and crafts activities, plasma screens for  movies and a simulator game, Kid-size replica of the ship's bridge and LCD screen "windows" with views from the actual bridge lets kids steer the Disney ships in and out of ports around the world.

Studio Sea

Studio Sea, a family entertainment center featuring a television studio-themed hotspot where parents and children are invited to sing, dance, play games and enjoy live entertainment together.

Edge

Loft-style lounge for Tweens ages 11-13.

 Located midship on Deck 2, this lounge and interactive play space is set up with plush couches, high-tech entertainment—videogames, televisions and computers—and features guided activities.

Aloft Teen Center

For kids ages 13-17

Teens-exclusive activity center located on Deck 11, Midship in the non-functioning smoke stack. Open 24 hours a day.  Watch television, play videogames, and enjoy a variety of activities. 

Disney Dream/Disney Fantasy

Small World Nursery

For children ages 3 months to 3 years, whose whimsical design was inspired by the classic Disneyland attraction. This nursery is available at an additional charge.

Open throughout the day, It's a Small World Nursery invites parents to enjoy more adult-oriented adventures during the cruise while their children are safely cared for by trained Disney counselors. While onboard, please check the Personal Navigator—the Disney Cruise Line daily newsletter detailing all there is to see and do—for operating hours.

The facility consists of 3 distinct areas:
  • • An acclimation zone, designed to help youngsters adjust to the nursery
  • • A main play area, with a 3-dimensional façade of the small world attraction that's filled with interactive features and hidden delights

  • • A separate room for naps that is quiet and peaceful

• The main play area also includes a boat in the center of the room that "floats" on a river pattern along the soft surface floor and is surrounded by colorful, kid-sized tables and chairs for toddlers to enjoy crafts, books and games.

While in the nursery, children can engage in craft projects, story time and movie time.

Oceaneer Club/Oceaneer Lab

Kids ages 3-10

Only on a Disney Cruise Line ship can children become immersed in their favorite Disney stories.  There are two main spaces for children ages three to 10:  Disney’s Oceaneer Club and Disney’s Oceaneer Lab feature an interactive play-floor, a cruise industry first that blends the latest in gaming technology with Disney’s panache for storytelling. Located in the main gathering space in both venues, the interactive play-floor allows children to engage in team play exercises where their movements control the action on the interactive floor.

Both venues offer magical interactions with the animated characters such as Crush, the sea turtle from the isney•Pixar motion picture “Finding Nemo” and Stitch, the mischievous alien from “Lilo and Stitch.”  The characters chat, play and joke with children in live, unrehearsed conversations from their digital undersea and intergalactic environments via 103-inch plasma screens.

Edge

Chill-Out Zones for Tweens and Teens

Located inside the forward funnel is Edge – the lounge just for tweens (ages 11 to 13).  This tween pad is filled with a multitude of hi-tech entertainment including the ability to create and star in photo postcards and video karaoke using green-screen technology.

Vibe

A trendy and inviting indoor/outdoor space created especially for guests ages 14 to 17.

A “teen-only” swipe card provides access to the nearly 9,000-square-foot club. Teens can create and edit videos, play computer games, access the onboard social media application or try their hand at spinning and mixing dance tracks.  Teens have their own private outdoor deck area with chaise lounges for sunbathing, two wading pools, misters and pop jets for cooling off, and deck games such as Ping-Pong and foosball.
