AIDA

All  ship cabins and public spaces  are non-smoking areas. Guests are allowed to smoke on cabin verandas and in designated smoking areas on the free decks are available.

NOTE: smoking is not permitted on the verandas of the following or these cabins on board AIDAprima and AIDAperla: 5165 VE, 5265 VE, 5164 VE, 5264 VE, 5161 VE, 5261 VE, 5160 VE, 5260 VE, 5163 VF , 5263 VF, 5162 VF, 5159 VF, 5259 VF, 5158 VF, 5258 VF, 5262 VF 

 

Azamara

Journey and Quest have two designated smoking areas located in the aft section of the Looking Glass Lounge on the port side, and on the starboard forward section of the Pool Deck. Smoking areas have signs indicating that smoking is permitted there. All other areas of the ship are non-smoking. This includes Public Rooms, Restaurants, Pool Deck, Staterooms and Suites, Verandas and Halls.

Carnival

Effective October 9, 2014, smoking is prohibited on stateroom balconies. Guests who smoke in their staterooms or on their balconies will be assessed a $250 cleaning and refreshing fee on their Sail & Sign shipboard account. Information on this fee is included in Carnival's ticket contract.

Cigarette smoking in public areas will be permitted only in Carnival’s dance clubs, designated areas within the casino and casino bar, certain sections on the open decks on all vessels and also in the jazz clubs on 13 Carnival ships. The 13 ships include Carnival Destiny, Carnival Triumph, Carnival Victory, Carnival Spirit, Carnival Pride, Carnival Legend, Carnival Miracle, Carnival Conquest, Carnival Glory, Carnival Valor, Carnival Liberty, Carnival Freedom, and Carnival Splendor. Cigar smoking will also be permitted in the jazz clubs. On other vessels in the fleet, cigar (and cigarette) smoking will also be permitted in designated areas on deck.

Effective December 1, 2011, smoking is prohibited in all guest staterooms.

Celebrity

Smoking is not permitted inside any stateroom or on any stateroom veranda. Cigarette smoking will only be permitted in designated indoor and outdoor areas of the ship, while cigar and pipe smoking will only be permitted in designated outdoor areas. Smoking will not be permitted in any dining venue, casino, theater, hallway, elevator or corridor. Violations to this smoking policy will result in a $250 cleaning fee being charged to the guest's onboard account and may also be addressed through Celebrity Cruises' Guest Conduct Policy. There is a non-smoking policy on all components of the land tour portion of all Celebrity Cruises cruisetour products.

Costa

Last updated October 1, 2014

Smoking cigarettes, cigars and pipes is not permitted on board, except in the “Cigar Lounge” area. Electronic cigarettes may only be used cabins and in the “Cigar Lounge” area. In public areas outdoors smoking is only allowed in specially designated areas that have ashtrays. Smoking is not permitted in cabins, but only outside on private balconies. To avoid the risk of fire, cigarettes must be extinguished and left in the ashtrays provided and never thrown overboard when they are still lit. There are no indoor smoking areas on Costa Mediterranea, Costa Classica, Costa Atlantica and Costa Victoria.

Crystal

Prohibits smoking on verandahs of all staterooms and suites aboard Crystal Symphony and Crystal Serenity. Most areas of Crystal ships have been non-smoking for several years, including restaurants and the main entertainment lounges. Pipe-smoking and cigars are only permitted in the Connoisseur Club and most open decks.

Cunard

 

As of April 2014, smoking will no longer be permitted on balconies. This policy will come into affect as of the following cruises:

Queen Victoria - 28 April 2014
Queen Mary 2 - 16 May 2014
Queen Elizabeth - 8 June 2014

This also applies to electronic cigarettes which emit a smoke like vapor..

Smoking is no longer permitted in any public area with the exception of Churchill’s Cigar Lounge (cigars only) the upper level of G32 on Queen Mary 2 and other designated area outdoor areas.

Disney

Disney Cruise Line has never allowed smoking in Guest staterooms. In addition, smoking is prohibited in all interior spaces throughout our ships and beginning November 15, 2013, smoking will be prohibited on stateroom verandahs. In an effort to provide a cruise experience that satisfies both our non-smoking and smoking Guests, smoking (including the use of electronic cigarettes) is only permitted in designated areas of the ship.

On the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder, smoking is permitted on:

Outdoors on Deck 4 starboard side from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. only

The starboard side open-air decks 9 and 10 (excluding the Mickey Pool area).

On the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy, smoking is permitted on:

Deck 4 port side, aft, the outside Promenade Deck from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

Deck 12 port side, aft, the outdoor area that is accessible through the Meridian Lounge

Deck 13 port side, forward, by Currents Bar

Guests who are found smoking in their staterooms or on their verandahs will be charged a $250 stateroom recovery fee. This fee covers deep cleaning that includes air filter replacement, carpet extraction and the cleaning and replacement of drapes, comforters, blankets and pillows, along with verandah cleaning and maintenance.

Fred Olsen

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines operates a strict ‘no- smoking’ policy in all inside areas. Smoking will only be permitted on cabin balconies and on designated open deck areas.

Electronic cigarettes, not emitting a vapor may be used in cabins or on cabin balconies but, are not permitted in any non-smoking public area. They can easily be mistaken for a real cigarette and result in potential confrontation and necessitate staff intervention.

Electronic cigarettes emitting any vapor, even if only a water vapor, may only be smoked in designated external smoking areas.

Holland America

All staterooms (cabins), showrooms and most other indoor areas are designated non-smoking. While smoking is not permitted in staterooms, guests are allowed to smoke on stateroom verandahs. Smoking is also permitted on certain other designated, outside decks. The designated smoking areas for all ships are as follows unless otherwise noted:

  • Stateroom verandahs
  • Sea View Bar (not available on ms Rotterdam and ms Veendam)
  • Outside Decks
    • Sports Deck
    • Observation Deck (ms Prinsendam, ms Eurodam, ms Nieuw Amsterdam, ms Noordam, ms Oosterdam, ms Westerdam, and ms Zuiderdam only)
  • Casino*
    • Active players only, when the casino is open
    • Designated slot machines only
    • Each sailing will offer one or more non-smoking nights depending upon the length of the voyage

Cigar and pipe smoking is not allowed anywhere inside the ship; it is only permitted on the outside decks where smoking is otherwise allowed. Electronic cigarettes are permitted in staterooms but not in other public areas of the ship other than on outside decks designated as smoking areas.

Any guest who smokes inside staterooms in violation of our policy will be charged a US$250 cleaning fee per day of violation.

Holland America Line reserves the right at any time to modify the smoking policy onboard or alter the locations where smoking is permissible.

*ms Noordam Casino is non-smoking, with the exception of two nights per cruise

Smoking Policy beginning January 2017:

Effective with the first sailings for all ships beginning in January 2017, the following smoking policy is in effect:

For the comfort of all of our guests, all staterooms (cabins), showrooms and most other indoor areas are designated non-smoking. No smoking of any kind will be permitted on any stateroom verandah.

The designated smoking areas for all ships are as follows unless otherwise noted:

  • Sea View (Retreat) Bar/Pool on starboard side only. On PrinsendamKoningsdam, and Nieuw Statendam, smoking is allowed on the port side only
  • Sun Bar on Koningsdam and Nieuw Statendam
  • Sports Deck forward and aft of Crow’s Nest on starboard side on MaasdamVeendam, Volendam, Zaandam, Rotterdam and Amsterdam
  • Oak Room on Noordam only, including cigar and pipe smoking
  • Designated areas for active slot players in Casinos*. Oosterdam and Eurodam casinos are completely non-smoking. Noordam Casino is completely non-smoking, with the exception of two nights per cruise.

Cigar and pipe smoking is not allowed anywhere inside the ship; it is only permitted on the outside decks where smoking is otherwise allowed.

Electronic cigarettes are permitted in staterooms but not in other public areas of the ship other than designated smoking areas.

Any guest who smokes inside staterooms or on verandahs in violation of our policy will be charged a US$250 cleaning fee per day of violation and will risk being removed from the ship for repeated violations.

MSC

Smoking is not generally permitted in any food service areas (buffets and restaurants), medical centers, child-care areas, corridors or elevator foyers, areas where guests are assembled in groups for safety exercises, disembarkation or tour departures, public toilets, or in bars directly near areas where food is served. Smoking in all cabins is highly discouraged, and because of the specific and proven risk of fire, smoking on cabin balconies is not permitted at any time. Smoking is permitted in several bars on each ship, and on one side (indicated by signage) of the principal outdoor pool deck areas, where ashtrays are provided.

Effective Nov. 2, 2013, the MSC Divina is expanding smoke-free zones. Smoking will be limited to two areas: Cigar Lounge and port side of designated outside decks away from bars and food areas. Casino, MSC Yacht Club, and Black & White Lounge will be non-smoking. The casino will occasionally allow smoking during certain hours in limited areas at the casino manager’s discretion.

As with all other MSC ships, smoking will continue to be prohibited in staterooms, on balconies, and in corridors, elevators, stairways, and public bathrooms.

Norwegian Cruise Line

Norwegian Cruise Line changed the smoking policy for all sailings on or after November 1, 2014. The specific changes prohibit smoking on stateroom balconies and limit smoking in the casino to players. On Norwegian Getaway and Norwegian Breakaway, smoking on The Waterfront will be permitted on the starboard side, except by the outdoor dining areas.

Public areas throughout all our ships are smoke-free. If you smoke regular or electronic cigarettes, you can do so in designated areas only. If you prefer pipes or cigars, you can smoke in the Cigar Bar or designated smoking lounge. Smoking cigarettes, electronic cigarettes, cigars and pipes is permitted in outdoor public guest spaces and open decks where designated by the ship's management based on the ship's specific characteristics and arrangement. Smoking, including electronic cigarettes, is prohibited in or near venues serving food, the jogging track, outdoor sporting venues, The Haven outdoor areas and children's pool areas. On ships with The Waterfront, smoking is permitted on the starboard side excluding any food service areas. Active Casino players may smoke cigarettes in the Casino during gaming hours. Cigarette smoking is not permitted in any other indoor venue or location.

Guests are not permitted to smoke cigarettes, e-cigarettes, cigars or pipes in their staterooms or on their balconies. Cigar and pipe smoking in staterooms and on balconies is prohibited. Smoking inside your stateroom or on your balcony will result in a $250 cleaning charge added to your onboard account. If cigarette burns on furniture, linens, towels or carpeting are detected; guests will be advised and charged for the damages.

Electronic cigarettes cannot be used in public areas where there is a No Smoking policy in force; simply because these cigarettes look so realistic and therefore other guests' perception is that we are not enforcing the No Smoking rule.

Oceania

Designated Smoking Areas are available on Deck 9, the forward starboard corner of the Pool Deck, and Deck 10, in the aft, port corner of Horizons. These areas are comfortably furnished and conveniently located near food and beverage areas. Smoking is expressly forbidden in all Staterooms and Suites, on verandas, or in any areas of the ship other than officially Designated Smoking Areas. Smoking in a stateroom or suite represents a serious fire and safety hazard to all guests and staff. Guests choosing to disregard this policy will be disembarked at the next port of call and may also be subject to additional fees that will be imposed to cover the costs associated with any damage to and the required cleaning of furnishings, verandas and surrounding deck or accommodation areas. All areas other than those specified as Designated Smoking Areas will remain smoke-free. This includes all guest suites and staterooms, verandas, restaurants, public areas, the Casino and all other areas of the ship. Cigar and Pipe smoking is only permitted on the forward starboard corner of the Pool Deck."

P&O

Smoking is not permitted in any indoor areas onboard P&O Cruises Australia vessels. Smoking is not permitted in cabins, suites, private balconies, the dining rooms, any food service area, the casino or in the show lounges and theatres. Princess

Smoking will no longer be allowed in passenger staterooms or on balconies, effective on all sailings departing after January 15, 2012. Princess still welcomes passengers who smoke, and will continue to provide special venues around the ship to accommodate smokers. Smoking will continue to be allowed in the Churchill’s cigar lounge, a section of the disco and casino, and a portion of the open decks.

Regent Seven Seas

Smoking is prohibited in all suites, staterooms and balconies fleet-wide. In addition, cigarette or cigar smoking is not permitted in any enclosed dining areas, whether it be the ships' main dining rooms, the alternate dining venues or the outdoor dining areas. Cigarette smoking is only permitted in designated areas of the outdoor pool area and the following public rooms: Seven Seas Voyager: Connoisseur Club, Voyager Lounge (Indoor designated area), Horizon Lounge (Outdoor one side designated area), Pool area (Designated area opposite side of the Pool Bar). Seven Seas Mariner: Connoisseur Club, Stars Nightclub (Indoor designated area), Horizon Lounge (Outdoor one side designated area), Pool area (Designated area opposite side of the Pool Bar). Seven Seas Navigator: Connoisseur Club, Stars Lounge (Indoor designated area), Galileo's (Outdoor one side designated area), Pool area (Designated area opposite side of the Pool Bar). Cigar Smoking is only permitted in the Connoisseur Club and the designated area on the opposite side of the Pool Bar. Pipe smoking is only permitted in the Connoisseur Club. Pipe smoking in open deck areas is considered an extreme fire hazard and is not permitted. Failure to comply with this ban will result in guests being asked to leave the ship at their expense, without refund or credit for the unused portion of their cruise.

Royal Caribbean International

 

Cigarette, cigar, e-cigarette and pipe smoking is permitted in designated outdoor areas of the starboard side of all ships; with the exception of Oasis-class ships that will allow smoking on the port side of the ships. To assist in locating areas where smoking is permitted, guests will find visible signage posted within all smoking areas and ashtrays that are provided for use. Outdoor areas near restricted areas, food venues, and kids play areas and pools will not allow smoking. On Oasis class, smoking is not permitted in Central Park or the Boardwalk neighborhoods.

Casino Royale allows smoking and has a designated area for non-smoking guests. There will be visible signage indicating the non-smoking area in the casino. There are select cruises departing from China that will not have a non-smoking area in the casino.

Onboard all interior public spaces are smoke free*. Smoking is not permitted in any dining venue, theater, bar, lounge, hallway, elevator, and jogging track. 

Smoking is not permitted inside any stateroom and any stateroom balcony. This applies to all stateroom categories onboard. If a guest is in violation of this stateroom policy, a cleaning fee of $250 USD will be applied to their SeaPass® account and may be subject to further action pursuant to the "Consequences Section" of the Guest Conduct Policy.

Cigarettes, cigars and pipe tobacco must be properly disposed of and never thrown overboard. Cigar and pipe tobacco is limited to designated outdoor areas and Cigar Bars**. You must be at least 18 years of age to purchase, possess or use tobacco onboard.

Electronic cigarettes or e-cigarettes are only permitted within the designated smoking areas.

Royal Caribbean International kindly asks all guests to please observe the smoking policy. These requests are made to provide a comfortable cruise for everyone. Guest may also inquire at Guest Services for the location of the designated smoking areas onboard.

Guests who violate this smoking policy may be subject to further action pursuant to the "Consequences Section" of this Guest Conduct Policy.

*Mariner of the Seas and Voyager of the Seas offer one indoor smoking venue. Onboard Mariner of the Seas guest can smoke at the Connoisseur Club located on Deck 5. Onboard Voyager of the Seas guest can smoke at The Vault, nightclub, located on Deck 3. 

**Cigar Bars on Royal Caribbean International are called the Connoisseur Club and are featured on the Freedom Class and Voyager Class ships.

Seabourn

Guests are asked to refrain from smoking:

In all dining venues (inside and outside), In the Show Lounge/The Grand Salon; The Club and the Casino, on the port side (left side facing forward) of the Observation Lounge; in the ship's elevators, corridors and lobbies including Reception/Seabourn Square; in The Spa at Seabourn, the surrounding deck and Spa Terrace.

On Seabourn Odyssey and Seabourn Sojourn, in addition to the areas mentioned above, deck 11 including the retreat, Sun Terrace and all of Deck 8 including the Patio Bar, Patio Grill and Pool area. Pipe and cigar smoking is permitted only outside on deck.

Cigarette smoking is permitted in the following areas:

ON ALL SEABOURN SHIPS:

Smoking of electronic cigarettes is permitted in guest suites. Smoking of water-pipes, glass-pipes or other smoking devices is not permitted on board.

ON SEABOURN PRIDE, SPIRIT & LEGEND:

Smoking is permitted on the private verandas of guest suites in Categories CS and OW (Smoking is not permitted on the balconies of B category suites).

Inside smoking of cigarettes is permitted in the port-side half of the forward observation lounge on Deck 8 after 8 PM.

Outside smoking of cigarettes, cigars and pipes is permitted on the starboard half of the Sky Bar on Deck 8, including the bar stools, except during luncheon and dinner service in that location. During those hours only, smoking is permitted on the aft section of Deck 8.

ON SEABOURN ODYSSEY, SOJOURN & QUEST:

Inside smoking of cigarettes will be permitted in the port-side half of the Observation Bar on Deck 10 after 8 PM.

Outside smoking of cigarettes is permitted:

On the verandas of guest suites

On the starboard half of the Sky Bar on Deck 9 including the bar stools

On the starboard half of the open terrace aft of The Club on Deck 5

Outside smoking of cigarettes, pipes and cigars is permitted on the open terrace aft of Seabourn Square of Deck 7. This is the only area on board where pipe and cigar smoking is permitted.

Guests are asked to refrain from smoking pipes and cigars anywhere inside the ship, including in guest suites, on verandas and balconies. If you have any doubts about any area, please consult your onboard staff.

Any guest who smokes inside staterooms in violation of our policy will be charged a US$250 cleaning fee per day of violation

Silversea

Most areas of the ship are non-smoking. There are designated smoking tables in the Panorama Lounge and in certain areas on Decks 5 and 6 for cigarette smoking. Cigar and pipe smoking is only permitted in The Humidor and in certain areas on open Decks 5 and 6.

Windstar

Smoking is not permitted in any of the staterooms or public spaces including all restaurants and corridors. Smoking is permitted on the outside decks in designated smoking areas only.
