Packing Advice for Women

Mix and match clothes that resist wrinkles (polyester blends work best), and fold flat in my luggage. Consider limiting white or light color clothes that show stains so clothes can be worn more than once. You can have one or two outfits you can wear casual during the day and dress-up with accessories and a pair of heels at night later in the week. Don't forget to bring a plastic bag or laundry bag of some sort to put your dirty clothes in rather than having to store them in your suitcase until disembarkation.

Cruise Wear Etiquette

What is Formal?

Long gown, cocktail dress, or women's tuxedo or suit.

What is Resort Casual?

Walking shorts, skorts, and skirts during the day, slacks in the evening.

Casual

Jeans, t-shirts, sportswear, swimwear, flip flops, tank tops, denim shorts, short shorts etc.

Note: Tank tops or cutoffs are viewed as inappropriate for public rooms and dining rooms.  Jeans are acceptable on Carnival ships other than formal night.

Need to know!
Wearing camouflage is illegal in many countries in the Caribbean and South America, along with other areas around the world. You will be required to return to the ship and change, or worse, you could be arrested. Better safe they sorry. Leave the camouflage shorts at home.

Clothes list for a typical 7-night Caribbean cruise

3 Pair walking shorts with pockets for port excursions

3 Pair of hang-around shorts to wear on deck & in the cabin

4 T-Shirts

2 Pair of Jeans

2 Swim Suits

2 Sundresses and 2 skirts

2 Slacks and 4 blouses

2 Formals - 1 for Captains night, the other semi - formal or suit plus accessories. Shawl or Wrap for formal dress

1 Blazer and a Sweater as the public rooms get pretty cold sometimes

2 Sweatpants and 1 Sweatshirt in case the weather turns cold or for evening walks on deck

Casual hangout clothes – If you’re like us, you’ll want to have comfortable loose fitting clothes while lounging in the open deck areas of the ship or in your cabin. Pack 2 pair of shorts, 2 pair of sweatpants, and 6 tops (2 that can be worn with your walking shorts for port days).

Shoes

2 pair of all purpose heels

2 pair of sandals

1 pair of athletic shoes

1 pair of Flip flops (shoes to be worn on water excursions and at the pool deck)

If you take athletic shoes, wear them on the ship to give you more room in your checked luggage. Remember to carry sandals or flips flops in your carry-on to wear on the pool deck. Note: Luggage usually begins to arrive at the cabins after the ship leaves port or just before.
